CENTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN (Helen's House)

A safe haven  for women and children
where grace will restore, train, and t ransform lives

IMAGINE HOPE

         the campaign for Helen's House

On any given night in Brevard County, more than 1000 people have no place they  call home.

Many are women and children.

 They are:

  • Unable to find affordable housing
  • Fleeing domestic violence
  • Struggling with mental illness or addiction

Their stories are all different,

yet they are the same.

HOMELESS AND VULNERABLE

The fastest growing demographic in Florida's homeless population is women with children.

Approximately 85% of homeless families in Florida are headed by women, and 51% of their children are under the age of 5.

For 50 years, CITA Rescue Mission has provided refuge and recovery for homeless men in Brevard County.  Yet every week, we receive calls from women who are homeless or facing homelessness - more than 150 women last year.  Most have children, and many do not meet the criteria for admission at area shelters. They are scared and feel hopeless.

IMAGINE HOPE

The staff and leadership at CITA have prayed for the resources needed to provide these women and their children with a safe environment where they can rebuild their lives.  The first answer to prayer came when a parcel of land was donated to the mission, designated for the purpose of building just such a shelter.

Soon after, CITA recruited a faithful campaign committee and entered the quiet phase of a $1.6 million dollar capital campaign for "Helen's House" - a safe haven for single women and mothers with children where grace will rescue, train and transform lives.

Please partner with us on this important project.
