Ron's Story
Hi! My name is Ron. I came from an alcoholic family that never went to church or talked about God. By the age of 12, I was drinking and doing drugs every day. I thought this was the life. Boy, was I wrong. I grew up playing baseball and could have had a college scholarship, but my habits ruined that. I married at 18 to a good, Christian lady, but I myself, never went to church at first. When I did go, it was just to make her happy. At 19, we had a son and things seemed great, but they weren't. My drinking and drug use was ruining everything. I ended up divorced and on my own for the first time in my life. I continued this life until I was 43 years old. By then, I had lost everything, my family, my friends, my son, and a brother who committed suicide because of drugs. I went into a Christian rehab program in San Diego and found God. My whole life changed. After 2 or 3 years, I started getting my family back. Things went great for 10 years. I lost both my parents on the same day, my sister and uncle to cancer, and then my cousin died in my arms. Instead of leaning on God, I went back to drinking and drugs. A year and a half ago, I found CITA for the first time. God restored me with the help of the Leadership at CITA. At 7 months, I left the Mission; thinking I could handle it on my own, but I turned my back on God. I lost everything again. I came back to CITA with God's grace and mercy and am now back on the right path again. I have a great job at Florida Tech, a nice car, but most of all, my respect for myself. I could not have done this without God and the folks here at CITA. My family is seeing the difference in me and life is good again. Thank You, Lord and CITA Rescue Mission. Ron Davis
